HP ProLiant DL380 G7 Server - Configuring Memory. DIMM slots for each memory channel; eighteen (18) total slots. 2015 separation of Hewlett-Packard Company into Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company and HP Inc. May have older product names and model numbers that differ from current models. HP Notebook PCs - Upgrading Memory (RAM) This document is for HP and Compaq notebook computers. Upgrade the random-access memory (RAM) in an HP notebook computer to help improve system performance. To plan for the upgrade, determine what type of memory the computer has, the maximum amount of memory the computer can use, and the amount of memory.
DIMM slotsThe system has four DIMM slots that support PC3-10600E unbuffered DIMM (UDIMM) with ECC support. The DIMM slots are divided into two channels of two DIMM slots each. Connector code |

Standard memorySATA Models: 2/4GB of PC3-10600 DDR3 UDIMM running up to 1333MHz with ECC capabilities memory installed. Standard memory plus optional memoryUp to 6GB memory is available with the optional installation of 3 x 2GB PC3-10600 un-buffered ECC DDR3 SDRAM DIMM Memory kits. Standard memory replaced with optional memoryUp to 8GB of memory is available with the removal of the standard 2GB of memory and the optional installation of 4x 2GB PC3-10600 un-buffered ECC DDR3 SDRAM DIMM Memory kits. NOTE: The below chart does not represent all possible memory configurations. For best performance, it is recommended that customer installs memory in identical pairs (slots 1 and 3 are interleavingpair. Slots 2 and 4 are interleaving pair). Slot |

Interleaving and non-interleaving memory configurationThis server supports both interleaving and non-interleaving memory configurations. Interleaving memoryincreases bandwidth by allowing simultaneous access to more than one block of data (for example, overlapping Read-Writes). This is accomplished by dividing the system memory between pairs of DIMMsand Writing-Reading blocks of data to/from both simultaneously. In order to take advantage of memoryinterleaving, identical DIMMs must be installed in pairs. DIMMs can also be installed singularly in slot 1only if memory interleaving is not desired. Memory installation guidelinesObserve the following important guidelines when installing memory modules: Use only HP supported PC3-10600E UDIMM in 1, 2, or 4GB capacities. Supported DIMM configurations include: Single DIMM (non-interleaving) – It must be installed in the DIMM DIMM 2A slot. NOTE: To allow an interleaving memory configuration, the Memory Interleaving field in the Advanced | Advanced Chipset Control menu of the BIOS Setup must be set to Enabled. Two DIMMs (interleaving) – For optimum memory performance, install in the DIMM 2A and DIMM 4B slots. Four DIMMs When modules of varying speed are installed, the system will run at the fastest common frequency as determined through the SPD registers on the memory modules.
CAUTION: DIMMs can be damaged by improper handling. Always use an anti-static wriststrap and grounding mat, and discharge static electricity before touching DIMMs. |
